Guide to choosing the right Motorbike
Congratulations!
You’ve passed your bike tests and now you’re ready to buy your very own motorbike!
There are a couple of things you might want to bear in mind when shopping for your first bike, below are just a few suggestions to help you choose the right motorbike for you.
Have a Budget
Motorbikes can cost anything between a couple of hundred pounds and tens of thousands of pounds so it’s firstly very important to have your budget and most importantly, to stick to it! If you are on a tight budget, a smaller and less powerful bike may be the better option. They will have lower running costs, cost less to tax and usually have lower bike insurance premiums.
What do you need the Bike for?
Once you decide what you want to use the new bike for, it should make it easier to decide what sort of bike you should go for. If you need a bike for commuting short distances to work, a big cruiser will probably not be the right bike for you. You should also be familiar with the different varieties of bike available on the market, read the motorbike types to get a better idea.
Being Comfortable
You need to pick a bike that you are comfortable riding and confident that you can control. Deciding on a Ducati Monster 1100 as your first ride may not be the best choice, some insurance companies may not even offer cover for such a powerful bike if you have no track record on them.
