Tips for driving abroad
If you’re keen to see the bridges we’ve listed, a trip to Europe may be on the cards for you. Here are a few tips for driving in Europe.
Check your car insurance
If you’ve got UK car insurance your policy will provide minimum third-party cover to drive in EU countries. Be aware though that many policies have a limit on the number of days that you’re covered to drive in Europe. If you want to have the same level of cover you have in the UK (fully comprehensive, for example) or want European car insurance for a longer period than is provided as standard, it’s worth contacting your insurance provider to see if you can extend your cover.
Make sure your breakdown cover applies in Europe
Check your policy details to see whether you’re covered for car breakdowns in Europe. It’s better to be safe than sorry and breakdown cover can help protect you from additional expenses if something does go wrong.
Take out travel insurance
If you have an accident or fall ill abroad and you don’t have travel insurance, you might be stuck with a hefty bill. A travel insurance policy can help you cover the cost of medical treatment and more.
