The world’s most Instagrammable supercars
Supercars like those crafted by Ferrari, McLaren and Lamborghini are designed to be as visually stunning as they are speedy and high tech, so it’s no surprise that they are Insta-worthy. But which of the world’s flashiest car models are the most popular on Instagram?
To find out, we’ve revealed the most Instagrammable supercar makes and models, based on Instagram hashtag data.
The top 10 most Instagrammable supercars in the world
1. Lamborghini Huracán – 1,418,279 posts
The Lamborghini Huracán isn’t just the most popular Lamborghini model on Instagram – it’s the most popular supercar of them all. The hashtag #LamborghiniHuracan currently claims a staggering 1,418,279 posts, which is more than any other supercar make or model.
Described by Lamborghini as ‘the perfect fusion of technology and design’, it seems Instagrammers agree that the Huracán certainly has a lot of visual appeal. Its technological spec is equally impressive, boasting a full LED lighting system that shows off its allure even in the dark.
2. Lamborghini Aventador – 1,395,925 posts
As well as scoring the number one spot with the Huracán, Lamborghini also comes in second place with the Lamborghini Aventador. This sophisticated supercar is a few years older than the Huracan, but only marginally less popular with 1,395,925 posts under the #LamborghiniAventador hashtag.
The Aventador has received praise for the engine's responsiveness and smooth power output, and the most recent model, the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae (2021), can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds, with an impressive top speed of 221 mph.
3. Ford GT – 699,835 posts
Rounding up the top three most Instagrammed supercars is the Ford GT, which currently has 699,835 posts under its hashtag – just over half the number claimed by the Lamborghini Aventador in second place.
Still, the teardrop-shaped, American-made Ford GT is undeniably popular among Instagram users, beating every other supercar model after the Lamborghinis. As well as being nice to look at, the GT’s aerodynamic carbon-fibre body and 660-horsepower 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engine offer a powerful performance.
4. Bugatti Chiron – 523,935 posts
Bugatti supercars rank twice among the top 10 most Instagrammable supercars in the world, and the Bugatti Chiron claims the most popularity with 523,935 posts under its hashtag. In 2017, the Chiron set a world record by reaching 249 mph in 32.6 seconds, demonstrating just why it’s so popular with car fans – beyond its stylish exterior, of course.
Unfortunately, in January 2022 it was announced that every Chiron model had been sold, meaning that an Instagram photo may be the closest that most of us will ever get to driving – or perhaps even seeing — one.
5. McLaren 720S – 487,952 posts
The McLaren 720S places fifth with just under 500,000 posts to its hashtag.
Launched in 2017, the 720S boasts a beautifully sleek design that no doubt boosts its popularity on Instagram, as well as the ability to reach 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds thanks to its hugely powerful M840T engine.
6. McLaren P1 – 478,214 posts
McLaren also takes sixth place on our list of popular supercars, with the P1 possessing over 9,000 posts less than the 720S.
The McLaren P1 is a beautiful model but had a limited production of only 375 units – making it another one you’re more likely to spot on Instagram than on the road.
7. Lamborghini Gallardo – 463,253 posts
The Lamborghini Gallardo may not be quite as popular as its successors the Aventador and Huracán, but it still ranks among the top ten supercars on Instagram with 463,253 posts under the #LamborghiniGallardo hashtag.
The Gallardo was first produced in 2003 and spent ten years on the market, selling an impressive total of 14,022 units in this time. By today’s standards it’s a little on the slower side with a top speed of 192 mph, but it undoubtedly remains a favourite.
8. Bugatti Veyron – 409,468 posts
The second Bugatti model to feature in the top 10, the Veyron comes in seventh with almost 410,000 posts under its hashtag.
The Veyron was named the 2000s Car of the Decade by popular car review show Top Gear, and its popularity doesn’t seem to have diminished much since then if Instagram is anything to go by. The Veyron is renowned for its super speed; in fact, the Super Sport version is one of the fastest street-legal cars in the world, with a staggering top speed of 268 mph.
9. Ferrari F40 – 335,299 posts
Ferrari’s models are well-known among supercar fans, and the F40 might be the most famous of all – at least, according to Instagram. Originally launched in 1987, it’s a testament to the F40’s iconic design that it still ranks among the most popular supercars, with over 335,000 posts under the #FerrariF40 hashtag.
One of the F40s biggest selling points was its lightweight body paired with its powerful drive, featuring panels made of Kevlar, carbon fibre, and aluminium to boost its performance.
10. McLaren Senna – 328,130 posts
Yet again, McLaren demonstrates just how popular their supercars are with Instagrammers by scoring the last top 10 spot.
The McLaren Senna’s design is based on the slightly more popular 720S, earning it 328,130 posts under the #McLarenSenna hashtag.
