Types of Cover

Right Choice can give you comprehensive insurance cover, which means your car is covered even if you’re in an accident that’s your fault. You can also enjoy other benefits such as windscreen cover.

If you don’t want comprehensive, but you do want your car to be covered for theft or fire then ask for Third Party Fire and Theft Cover. This also makes sure you are covered for any claims against you if you have an accident that’s your fault.

The minimum cover you can have to drive on the road in the UK is Third Party. This covers you for any claims made against you for damage or injury that you cause, but you won’t have any cover for your own vehicle.

Things you should look for with comprehensive insurance cover:

  • Windscreen Cover – to replace or repair your damaged windscreen
  • New car for old – if you have an accident and your car is less than 12 months old it will be replaced by a new car of the same make, model and specification if your old car is extensively damaged
  • Audio and navigation equipment cover
  • Personal Accident compensation – a lump sum to compensate you or your family if you are badly injured or killed in an accident
  • European travel – travel in Europe with the same cover as you have in the UK or with the minimum cover allowed in the country you are visiting (usually Third Party only)
  • Legal Cover – to help you if you have to claim uninsured losses after an accident that wasn’t your fault. Uninsured losses include personal injury claims, loss of earnings, car hire charges, policy excess reimbursement and out of pocket expenses

Terms and conditions will apply to the benefits you’re offered, so it’s important to check the policy wording before you purchase.

Other benefits you might be offered:

  • Courtesy car – whilst your own car is being repaired
  • Key Cover – replacement keys and new locks if your car keys are lost or stolen
  • Alternative accommodation – an overnight stay or all or part of the cost of an alternative method of transport to get you home, if you can’t drive your car after an accident
  • Uninsured Driver Promise – you won’t lose your no claims bonus or have to pay your policy excess if you’re in accident with an uninsured driver and you’re not to blame
  • Child car seat replacement
  • Medical cover – cover for the cost of any emergency medical treatment you might need after an accident
  • Misfuelling – cover to drain and clean your tank, if you put in the wrong fuel
Key cover

Right Choice might also be able to offer the following options, which you can purchase and add on to your insurance for wider cover:

They also offer a car breakdown service, so you’ll have peace of mind on any journey you take in your vehicle. There are 3 levels of cover which are:

  • Homestart
