A simples guide

Suzuki Swift car insurance

Having been around for over a century now, Japanese giants Suzuki certainly know a thing or two when it comes to engineering (even if they did start out by making user-friendly looms). Released in the year 2000, the Suzuki Swift is one of the brand’s most popular cars, with several successful generations of redesign under its belt.

Today’s Swift is available in 1.2 and 1.6 standard and sports models, as well as a hardy 4x4 model for anyone that tends to drive on more challenging terrain.

Suzuki Swift benefits

With top selling hatchbacks like the VW Golf, Ford Fiesta, and Vauxhall Corsa topping the bestseller lists, the Suzuki Swift does get a little overlooked in favour of the more popular kids – yet it still has a lot going for it.

Alongside its sporty good looks, it’s compact, easy to handle, and enjoyable to drive. It’s also super safe, with airbags, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control all standard features. At the Euro NCAP crash safety tests it scored a shiny five stars – the maximum score possible.

Perhaps the best thing about the Suzuki Swift however is that it’s budget-friendly, with low running costs and relatively low insurance groupings.

What insurance group is the Suzuki Swift in?

The cost of your Suzuki Swift car insurance will depend on a lot of factors, including personal details such as your driving history and age, as well the vehicle’s ABI insurance group rating.

Every single vehicle in the UK has a group rating, decided by the Association of British Insurers (ABI). The rating a vehicle receives is based on lots of nitty gritty details, but the group it’s placed in reflects what it is going to cost insurers if you need to make a claim. The categories range from 1-50, with a lower number typically indicating a lower insurance cost. Suzuki Swifts range from 11 to 19, which is fairly low, albeit not as low as some of the other cars on the supermini market.

We’ve put together this handy table to give you a quick idea of how the Suzuki Swift insurance group ratings work. As you’ll notice straight away, the more basic models generally fall into lower categories - so it’s worth reconsidering how many bells and whistles you really need if it’s bumping up the potential price of your policy.
