Compare IHG credit cards

The Intercontinental Hotel Group or IHG® Rewards Club credit card is a rewards card that gives you points to spend at hotels around the world. These type of cards are sometimes called reward cards, travel cards or hotel cards.

IHG has over 4,900 properties around the world and includes well-known brands such as Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza.

So, if you travel a lot for work or pleasure - and use a credit card to pay for your hotel stays at IHG hotels, this type of card might be of interest to you.

While, we don’t currently have any IHG credit card deals on our website, we’re happy to tell you more about them so that you can make an informed choice.

How do the rewards work?

If you take out an IHG Rewards Club credit card, you’ll get 10,000 IHG points when you spend £200 or more in the first three months of opening the account. Then, you’ll earn 1 point for every £1 you spend anywhere in the UK, and 2 points for every £1 you spend at an IHG location. In addition, you’ll get 2 points for every £1 spent abroad on the card.

You’ll also be granted Gold Elite status when you open your account which gives you certain benefits such as free internet access, exclusive hotel rates, priority check in and extended check out times.

So you’re collecting points, but how do you use them? The answer is in a range of ways. Points can go towards what IHG calls “Reward Nights” where your points go towards the cost of your room. Points can also be used to buy jewellery, electronics or other goods via an online catalogue, gift cards, conversion to air miles, or simply donated to charity.

There’s another attractive feature to this card and that’s that it offers 0% interest on balance transfers. This applies to balances for 12 months if they’re transferred in the first 3 months of opening the account. If you’ve built up a balance on an alternative card, this could be a cost effective way of paying off the debt.
