Marks and Spencer Credit Cards

One of Britain’s most famous department stores, Marks and Spencer was formed when Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer went into partnership back in 1894. They opened their first store ten years later in Leeds and by the 1920’s had adopted their famous policy of only buying directly from suppliers.

They’ve come a long way since, and now have a range of financial services, issuing its own credit cards.

If you love shopping at M&S, you may love the extras that you get with an M&S credit card. Let’s take a look at them in more detail.

The M&S Credit Card

If you’re an M&S customer, you’ll probably know that there are M&S points that can be collected. With your new card you’ll receive one point for every £1 you spend on your card in M&S, and one point for every £5 you spend elsewhere. To get you started, you’ll also receive 500 M&S points worth £5 when you’re sent your new card.

Your M&S points are converted into M&S reward vouchers four times a year and posted to you. You can then use them for whatever you like when shopping in M&S.

If you order travel money via your M&S card, you’ll also benefit from preferential rates and there’s no cash advance fee.

Additionally, if you’ve debt built up on an existing credit card that you’re not clearing each month, you could be paying quite considerable amounts of interest. The M&S credit card has another feature that may well appeal to you in this situation. If you transfer the balance from an existing card to a new M&S card, you can pay it off interest free over 25 months, You’ll have to pay a 2.9% transfer fee, but you could still save money on your interest payments.

The card also offers 0% interest for 25 months on purchases which could be useful if want to spread the cost of something large over a longer period of time.
