0% Balance transfer and purchase credit card

The Nationwide Purchase Offer credit card has a couple of useful characteristics. If you’ve built up some debt on another credit card, you’d be able to transfer it to this card and pay it off interest free for 12 months. Unlike some other balance transfer options on the market, there’s also no transfer fee charged if you transfer any balance in the first 90 days.

Additionally, any purchases you make in the first 12 months are also interest free, meaning you can pay off old debt and make new purchases, all without paying interest.

After the expiry of the interest free period, the card switches to an APR of 17.9%.

Another perk with this card is a commission-free allowance, where you’re not charged for any spending you make abroad. Read the details carefully to decide what this involves and whether these elements of the card might be useful to you.

Even if this is the sort of credit card you might want, it could still be worth comparing against other 0% balance transfer and 0% purchase cards- you may find a card which has longer interest free periods which better suit your needs.

Cashback Cards

The other Nationwide card on offer is the Nationwide Select credit card. This is only available to customers who already have a current account with Nationwide and can be found within our ‘cards from your bank’ page.

Like the Nationwide Purchase Offer card, it gives you a year’s interest free balance transfer for 12 months and no balance transfer fee in the first 90 days. It also offers a year’s interest free spending. The standard APR on this card is a little lower than the Purchase Offer card at 15.9%.

There’s an extra perk with this card though. Y#ou also get 0.5% cashback on all sterling purchases you make. That means for every £100 you spend, you’ll earn 50p cashback.
