Who is NatWest?

NatWest, or National Westminster Bank, was founded in 1970 but can trace its origins to more than 200 smaller banks founded all over England and Wales.

NatWest offers a range of financial services including personal loans, mortgages, insurance and credit cards.

Which is the best NatWest credit card for me?

NatWest offers a range of credit cards to suit different purposes. Whether a NatWest credit card would be right for you depends on your circumstances and what you want to use it for.

Purchase and balance transfer card

NatWest’s purchase and balance transfer card offers 0% interest on balance transfers and purchases for 19 months. After that, its standard rates will apply and you’ll have to pay interest on any outstanding balance. There’s a 2.99% transfer fee.

Balance transfer card

NatWest’s balance transfer card offers 13 months of interest-free balance transfers.

The 13-month period begins when you open the account, and balance transfers must be made within the first three months of the account opening. This card also offers 0% interest on your first three months of purchases.

Longer balance transfer card

You can enjoy 0% interest on balance transfers for 23 months from the day you open your account with NatWest’s longer balance transfer card. You’ll also get 0% on purchases for the first three months if they’re made and paid off within the three-month period. There’s a 3.49% balance transfer fee.

Low rate credit card

NatWest’ low rate credit card has a representative APR of 12.9% (variable) on purchases and balance transfers. There are no foreign transaction fees when you use the card abroad.

You’ll also be able to manage your card through the NatWest mobile app.

Reward credit card

With the NatWest Reward credit card, you’ll receive 1% back at supermarkets and between 1-15% back at selected retailers. The card also rewards you with 0.25% back everywhere else, including supermarket petrol stations.

There’s an annual fee, but NatWest will refund it if you have a Reward current account with them.

Reward Black credit card

The Reward Black credit card offers 1% in rewards at supermarkets and 0.5% at their petrol stations. You can earn 1-15% back at selected retailers with 0.5% on offer everywhere else.

There are no foreign transaction fees. The Reward Black card comes with a credit limit of at least £5,000 and, as a Reward Black card holder, there’s a 24-hour helpline available if you have any issues.

There’s an annual fee with this credit card, but if you have a Reward Black current account then NatWest will refund it.

Just be aware the APR rate offered on all NatWest credit cards is representative and only needs to apply to 51% of customers. The actual rate you’ll get depends on your circumstances and credit rating.
