What else should I know?
The HomeEnergy tariff comes with 12-month free Boiler and Controls Cover included.
It’s worth noting that the Boiler and Controls Cover only applies to those who don’t currently have an existing Home Services agreement with EHL British Gas (including HomeCare, Plumbing and Drains cover, Gas Appliance Cover and Kitchen Appliance Cover) or a product with any other provider that gives the same cover.
The cover, which starts within 21 days of your tariff start date, includes:
- Boiler and Controls breakdown cover with a £99 excess for each repair
- Parts and labour (limits apply, see terms and conditions below)
- Unlimited call outs, giving you peace of mind if things go wrong - day or night.
Replacement for your boiler is also included if it can’t be repaired, provided it’s less than seven years old. If your boiler is between seven and ten years old, it’s still covered provided it was installed by British Gas and was always covered under a HomeCare agreement or warranty from British Gas.

In line with Ofcom regulations, you have a 14-day ‘cooling off’ period after taking the new tariff, during which time there’s no exit fees of you change your mind and cancel your new policy. But if you choose to switch to another supplier after 14 days of taking up the new tariff – and any time before 11 February 2019 – then you’ll be charged exit fees of £30 per fuel.
