The science

How do we determine where your perfect partner will live? Well, we look at three key areas:

Career

A person’s job does say a lot about them. Are they motivated by money? Do they have a desire to help others? Are they creative or logical? Adventurous or stable? Statistics from a variety of sources can tell us where there are certain career hotspots across the UK.

Did you know, for example, that if you want to bag a doctor early on, London is your best bet? With over 10,000 UK doctors training in the capital, it’s a mecca for medics. If farming is more your thing then Wales is a good option, with over 75% of the land used for agricultural purposes.

Looks

Most of us have a type, or a particular physical quirk that sets our hearts a-flutter. It might be obvious that Scotland boasts the most redheads, or that London hosts the most hipsters, but did you know that people are more likely to need glasses in the North? Or that Birmingham is the tattoo capital of the UK?

Personality

Finding someone with likeminded hobbies and values is of key importance, and different studies have found that particular traits or behaviours are more prevalent in certain areas. For example, Northern people are known to be polite; 86% of Sheffield residents would wait to hold the door open for you, while 59% of Mancunians would give a valid parking ticket to someone else. Or, if you’re looking for a pet lover, Coventry could be a good option – they spend an average of £52.78 a month on their animals – the highest in the UK.

Of course, at the end of the day the most important thing is that your partner is happy and healthy and of course insured, but if you’re curious to see whether your top traits are linked to a particular place, take our just for fun quiz and hope that the answer is close to home…
