Apple announce the launch of not one, but three shiny new iPhones – introducing the iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max and the iPhone Xr, as well as the iWatch 4 series. iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max and the iPhone Xr release dates

Apple had their special event launch date on 12September, where they announced three brand new phones and the new iWatch 4. Apple's iPhone XS and XS Max will be available to pre-order from 14 September, with shipping to begin on 21 September. Pre-orders for the iPhone XR begin on 19 October before the handset starts shipping on 26 October. 

How much are they?

The iPhone Xs and Xs Max will be offered in 64GB at £999, 256GB at £1,149 and 512GB configuration and Apple are selling at £1,349. The Xs Max comes in the same configurations and will cost you £1,099, £1,249 and £1,449, respectively.

The iPhone Xr is a slightly lower spec, which will be offered with 64GB, 128GB or 256GB storage and Apple will be selling thisat £749, £799 and £899.

What are the differences between the iPhone Xs and the iPhone Xs Max?

The main difference is the size - both devices come in gold, silver or space. The XS has a 5.8-inch OLED screen and packs in 2.7 million pixels while the XS Max has a 6.5-inch OLED screen and 3.3 million pixels. 

Apple have updated their smartphone chip from an A11 Bionic to an A12 Bionic – the smarter, most powerful chip. As a result, you can enjoy 15% faster performance and a more battery efficient phone – using 50% less power. 

The battery life on the iPhone Xs promises 30 mins longer than the iPhone X, and the Xs Max promises an hour longer battery life. They both have the option of more storage than any other iPhone previously. 

What to expect from the iPhone Xs

The iPhone Xs promises bigger screens and better quality, with even faster and more advanced face ID recognition. Super Retina display in two sizes — including the largest ever on an iPhone. It comes with an A12 Bionic - the smartest, most powerful chip in a smartphone (perfect for amazing augmented reality experiences). The screen is 5.8” with 2436 x 1125 screen resolution and 458 pixels per inch. 

If all of that sounds a bit too technical, it comes with a top of the range, breakthrough dual-camera system with Depth Control. Similar to the iPhone X, this phone loses the home button with an all-screen design to give you a ‘large, beautiful canvas for everything you love to do.’ The high pixel density gives you sharp displays with the industry’s ‘best’ colour accuracy, remarkable brightness and contrast.

What to expect from the iPhone Xs Max

Similar to the iPhone Xs, the Xs Max with a 6.5” super retina custom OLED display, Apple’s largest display ever on an iPhone. However, not only do you enjoy a high quality display but it comes with a new level of water resistance. It comes with the most durable glass in a smartphone, sealed and precision-fitted with the surgical-grade stainless steel band, to help create a more water-resistant enclosure. Enjoy wider stereo sound playback, so you can enjoy your favourite films right on your device. 

All about the iPhone Xr

The iPhone Xr is a slightly cheaper device that comes with an LCD screen, claiming to be the most advanced in the industry. The Xr comes in six stunning new finishes – it is being made available in white, black, blue, coral, yellow and red. All of the versions are made with precision-machined, aerospace-grade aluminum bands with a glass back that allows for easy, wireless charging.

The A12 Bionic and TrueDepth camera track more than 50 facial muscles to make Memoji that move and react like you.
