Travel Advisor Competition Terms and Conditions

1. These terms and conditions apply to the Travel Advisor competition (“the Competition”) 

2. Entry to the Competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions, therefore, please read carefully.

3. This Competition is not a role or position at and will not lead to an offer of employment. Neither party intends that by entering the Competition or claiming the Prize to create an employment relationship. 

4. The promoter (“Promoter”) of the Competition is which is a trading name of BISL Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 3231094, whose registered office is Pegasus House, Bakewell Road, Orton Southgate, Peterborough, PE2 6YS (“the Promoter”).

5. The Competition is open only to UK residents who are aged 21 and over with a full passport, no criminal record and no travel restrictions (Excluding employees of the BGL Group, third parties involved in the Competition and their families). 

6. To enter the Competition, entrants must be, at time of entering, a higher education undergraduate in their final year of university within the UK (evidence will be required before you will be able to claim the prize) and must be able to meet the criteria detailed in clause 16 below. 

7. Only one entry per person(s) will be accepted.

8. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for incomplete entries or entries not properly received due to technical, communication or other problems. Proof of delivery of the entry is not proof of receipt.

9. The Competition will run from 9am on April 19th 2017 until midnight on the 30th April 2017 (“the Closing Date”). Entries received after the Closing Date will not be accepted.

10. The prize (“the Prize”):

  • up to £10,000 towards travel costs to up to 10 different destinations– inclusive of excursions, adventure activities and other expenses (such as visas, transfer fees – will discuss expected expenditure which may vary dependant on your destinations). 
  • £5,000 paid to the Winner’s student union. 
  • All accommodation, tours and travel will be pre-arranged through with an allocated amount from the Prize for spending money (which will be agreed with the Winner and may vary dependant on the destination selected). 
  • The Winner will be required to document their trips by writing at least 3 blog posts supported with at least 10 photographs for each post, these will be published on the webpage. 

11. There will be 5 finalists (“The finalist(s)”) which shall be selected by the travel team at on the 8th May 2017 based on their entry of a 200 word personal statement detailing why they are the ideal candidate. The Finalists will be required to submit a YouTube video of no more than 2 minutes in length, explaining why they believe they are the best candidate for the prize. The Finalist that receives the most ‘likes’ of their video will be chosen as The Winner. 

12. The Winner(s) shall be notified by on the week commencing 5th June 2017.

13. The Winner(s) shall have until midnight on the night after the notification to respond and claim their Prize

14. The Winner will be require to:

a)     Begin the trip no later than 30th September 2017

b)     The trip must last a minimum of 3 months

c)     The Winner must visit a minimum of 4 countries during the trip

d)     The Winner must write and submit to a minimum of 1 blog   post of 500 words per month (minimum of 3 in total)

e)     The Winner must submit to a minimum of 3 photos per         month (minimum of 9 in total) which will be used on the                 webpage, across social and for editorial purposes (when submitting photos and or                 videos, it is the Winner’s responsibility to ensure that they have acquired all necessary         permissions or consent from any other person(s) features in those)

f) reserves the right to not post any of the blog posts or photos as it sees fit

g)     The images and blog posts can not include any reference to excessive alcohol               consumption, drug taking or, the breaking of local or international laws or cultural               insensitivities

h)     The Winner must take out appropriate travel insurance. The Promoter will discuss this with the Winner and the cost of the insurance policy will be reimbursed by the                     Promoter and deducted from the Prize.

i) takes no responsibility for any injury or illness of the         Winner while traveling. The Winner will be responsible for their own safety while               traveling and should conduct their own research in advance (such as checking             

j)     The Winner is responsible for ensuring they acquire and maintain all                           forms/documentation required to travel (such as passports, visas) as well as arranging         any applicable medical assessments/vaccinations.

k)    Provide details of their passport within 14 days of being notified you have won.

15. In the event that the Prize is not claimed by this deadline, or the Winner is unable to meet the criteria detailed in these terms and conditions, the Winner shall forfeit the Prize and the Promoter may select an alternative Winner for the Prize. 

16. There shall be no alternative to the Prize although the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the Prize for one of equal value.

17. The Promoter’s decision is final and the Promoter shall not enter into correspondence with respect to its decision. The Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify or exclude any individual for inappropriate behaviour including but not limited to:

  • entries which, in the Promoter’s sole discretion, are inappropriate or derogatory to the subject matter of the Competition;
  • tampering with the entry process, (including exceeding any limitation on the numbers of entries allowed), or any other process which, in the opinion of the Promoter, in any way affects the fairness of the Competition;
  • tampering with the operation of the Competition or the website of the Promoter.
  • acting in violation of the terms of the Competition;
  • violating the terms of service, conditions of use and/or general rules or guidelines on Facebook;
  • acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person;
  • acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person;
  • submitting entries on behalf of another individual; or any conduct which would put other entrants at an unfair disadvantage.

18. Any activity or conduct of the Winner that is deemed to bring into disrepute will result in the Prize being cancelled. 

19. Details of the Winner’s name may be obtained by sending an email to within 4 weeks of the Closing Date.

20. Personal data supplied during the course of the Competition will only be used for the purposes of the administration of the Competition but may be passed on to third party suppliers only insofar as required for fulfilment/delivery/arrangement of the Prize.

21. The Winner may be required to take part in reasonable publicity in connection with the Competition, including the publication of their name, geographic location and photograph both in print and online.

22. The Winners consent to the use of any photography and imagery used to enter the competition, i.e. on their Facebook/Instagram/Twitter profiles. The Promoter has full rights to use these materials in both print and online. 

23. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities or disappointment incurred or suffered as a result of entering the Competition or accepting the Prize. The Promoter further disclaims liability for any damage to individuals’ computers relating to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in connection with the Competition.

24. The Promoter shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations where the failure is caused by something beyond its reasonable control, or that of a third party providing the Prize.

25. The Promoter shall not be liable for any additional expenses incurred by the Winner in connection with the Prize.

26. This competition is subject to the laws of England and Wales and the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts shall apply. 

27. The Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook/Twitter/Instagram.
