Our communities – playing our part

Supporting our communities is part of our DNA.

We call it CtM4Good and we’re really proud of everything we achieve.

We think of our CSR strategy in three key ways:

Partnership: We have teamed up with MyBnk, a leading financial education charity for children and young adults in the UK. The charity’s aims and work align explicitly to our purpose and we believe we can change the social mobility of the next generation by working together.

Over the past three years we’ve raised and donated more than £1 million to MyBnk supporting workshops, Money Houses and even publishing a White Paper to push for better personal financial education in schools. Read more about MyBnk here

In 2024, we became a partner of the Big Help Out which aims to get everybody out and about volunteering in their communities. We created 50 Magical Meerkat Moments in our communities and more than 400 of our colleagues volunteered. On top of that, we had an absolute blast and we’re already excited about being a partner again for 2025.

Meerkat your skills: We’ve got some amazingly talented people and we’re passionate about sharing our skills to help good causes. So far, our marketing teams have supported charities to create websites and social media campaigns, our HR teams have supported with interview, CV and mentoring skills, and our data teams have helped charities to maximise their databases in an ethical way. And there’s loads more.

Playing my part: We know how important it is for our colleagues to personalise their impact and support causes close to their own hearts. We encourage people to adopt Payroll Giving, give every colleague two days’ additional leave for volunteering and provide match funding for people’s own fundraising efforts.

Our environment

Alongside our community activity, we also focus on looking after our surroundings and reducing our environmental impact.

Although we do a lot of this we do through volunteering, we also partner with the Woodland Trust. Our donation contributed towards the planting of 1,500 native trees at the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Wood, 1,450 trees as part of the Emergency Tree fund and an additional 1,700 trees nationwide.

What’s more, in 2023, we were awarded the Investors in the Environment Bronze Accreditation recognising the steps we’ve taken so far to become a more environmentally conscious and sustainable business.

Here are just a few of the things we’ve put in place at our head office to positively support our environment:

Installation of EV charging points and the introduction of an EV car scheme

Continually exploring ways to reduce waste including recycling and using local suppliers

Supply chain and procurement guidance to ensure the companies we deal with support our agenda

100% renewable energy (gas and electricity) to power our sites

Removed single use disposable cutlery and cups

Planted a wildflower garden to promote wildlife in our urban site

Installed bat boxes and insect hotels to help species thrive

Our colleagues – inclusive by instinct and always aiming for amazing

We’ve got an amazing team, all guided by four colleague values:

It’s these values which drive us every day and help us keep doing the right thing for our customers.

We have a full careers site where you find out more about life at CtM – everything from our focus on developing our people to our approach to creating an inclusive workplace. Take a look here.
