Our environment

We know that in pursuing our business aims we have a responsibility to consider all aspects relating to the environment. We take these responsibilities seriously and have put in place a dedicated programme to help make us a more sustainable organisation. We’re working with Peterborough Environmental City Trust (PECT) to make sure everything is done to achieve this.

In our CTM4GOOD programme, as well as complying with all relevant environmental laws, we aim to:

• Reduce pollution – and where practicable, prevent it

• Cut waste – by recycling and environmentally conscious procurement

• Raise awareness of environmental issues by training green champions and engaging people through our environmental portal

• Reduce the impact of our buildings through efficiency, renewables and sourcing green energy.

We have submitted our Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) action plan.

And we’ll be progressively introducing new objectives and targets to improve our environmental performance at all levels of our business.

• Installation of EV charging points and the introduction of an EV car scheme 

• Continually exploring ways to reduce waste, including recycling and using local suppliers 

• 100% renewable energy (gas and electricity) to power our sites 

• Supply chain and procurement guidance to ensure the companies we deal with support our agenda 

• Removed single-use disposable cutlery and cups

• Planted a wildflower garden to promote wildlife in our urban site 

• Installed bat boxes and insect hotels to help species thrive 

We want Compare the Market colleagues to play a part in making CtM as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible. We encourage them to: 

• Follow guidance and advice to reduce their environmental impact and improve sustainability 

• Feed back to their managers about issues they identify and make suggestions for improvements. 

 Colleagues get three CSR days a year, which they can use to help with environmental projects.
