What you should do
Before using our platform, we recommend that you read all of the Terms to ensure that you understand them and are happy with them.
When accessing websites managed by third parties you should also read their terms and conditions and privacy information, as well as seek independent advice where necessary, for example, if the service or transaction on that website is of significant value to you.
We regularly check that all our partners are regulated and have the correct permissions to operate, however, you may wish to check this also. You can do so by checking the Financial Services Register on the FCA’s website.
What you must do
You must only use the 'comparethemarket.com' platform for your personal use (including use on behalf of your friends and family where they have asked you to do so) or, if a business user, for legitimate business comparison purposes.
You will need to answer, or have previously answered, several questions to compare or obtain a quote for any product or service. These questions are designed to ensure that we and all relevant product or service providers have all the information necessary to provide you with accurate, appropriate, and timely information relating to the products and/or services that you are interested in.
You must provide accurate and complete information when using this platform so that we, or our selected third parties, can provide appropriate price comparison quotes.
To purchase the majority of the products or services available on our platform you will be required to contact the product or service provider directly. Some of these products and services can be purchased directly on our platform via selected third parties, where this occurs your contract for such relevant product or service will be directly with that insurer or product or service provider.
When we generate a renewal comparison quote for you, you must check that the information within that quote is accurate and up to date before you purchase the product or service that quote relates to.
You must be a resident of the United Kingdom (“UK”) to use the platform.
You must not install or use the platform on a jail-broken or rooted device.
You must not share your comparethemarket.com password, PIN, one-time links or any other verification codes we make available to you with any third party.
You will not do anything that affects the integrity or security of this platform, or cause, or may cause harm, damage or unreasonable inconvenience to us or other users’ use of this platform.
What you may need to do
For some products or services, you may need to, or choose to, complete your transaction over the telephone. The contact details of the product or service provider are listed on their website(s).
What may happen if you don’t adhere to these terms
All insurance policies, the level of cover and the amount you pay is largely determined by the answers you provide to the questions you are asked. We have already asked you to provide accurate responses to these, if you fail to do this:
- any insurance product purchased may be void (meaning you will not be able to make a claim);
- you may have to pay additional premiums to reflect any increased insurance risk as a result of providing incorrect information; and/or
- You may be liable for damage or loss to a third party if you cause loss or an accident (this will be dependent on the terms of your policy/product).
What we will do
We will (if there are no issues) display to you the results of your use of our platform online. We will also inform you of these results by email or other available contact methods, including any renewal comparison results. Renewal comparison results will also be able to view within your Account. You can select which products and services you would like to receive renewal communications and comparison about within the Contact Preferences section of your Account.
Where you have undertaken a quote or compared a particular product or service, where possible we will automatically do a quote for that product or service when it is due to renew or expire. You can stop this service, or amend which products and services we will automatically do quotes for by visiting the Contact Preferences section of your Account, or by contacting us via the methods provided in these Terms.
The products and services we provide may vary from time to time, please check the Contact Preferences section of your Account to see what products and services are currently available to you.

You can update your marketing preferences and preferred contact methods at any time in the Contact Preferences section of your account and adjust any settings that relate to advertising by cookies and similar technologies here.
What we may do
We will help you complete quotes quickly by prepopulating some of our online forms with information we already know about you, or the product or service you are interested in (if we have it). Some of this information is provided by selected third parties so please double check it!
Where possible we may show you offers or promote specific products or services to you that we think are more relevant to you. More information on how we use your information to make these offers available to you can be found in our Privacy Policy.
If you breach these terms and conditions, we may take any action we deem appropriate, including denying you access to this platform, bringing legal proceedings against you and disclosing information we deem necessary, or are required to disclose, to appropriate legal and/or regulatory bodies.
What we won’t do
We do not provide financial, investment or other advice relating to the product or service being compared, nor do we provide a recommendation or endorsement of any product or service providers.
Exceptions and Other Potential Issues
We rely on the availability of third-party websites and the general performance of the worldwide web. At certain times some, or all online quotes and prices may not be displayed to you due to problems with third-party websites and/or the worldwide web. If this is the case, we will try and notify you of this and email you to let you know when your quotes are ready to view.
Whilst we strive to provide as comprehensive and easy to use a service as possible, the requirements for your quote or offer may not be met if they are unusual, "non-standard" or "high risk". If so, please contact the relevant provider or service provider directly to discuss your needs and requirements.
Each product and service provider will have a different approach to providing their quotes or offers and may not make all of them available. Where you express an interest in a product or service that is either restricted by, or not provided by a product or service provider, we or the provider may contact you to assist you further.
