What tariffs and plans does Tesco Mobile offer?
Tesco has a great range of phone contracts and SIM only deals which you can compare through us.
Both phone and SIM only deals are capped, so if you’re after an unlimited deal, Tesco won’t be for you.
However, if you’re worried about going over your allowance and prefer to keep track of your spending, Tesco’s capped contracts will ensure you don’t rack up any extra charges.
Before you choose a deal, Tesco lets you set a ‘safety buffer’. This allows you to fix the amount that you’re happy to spend above your monthly tariff on things not included in your monthly allowance. The idea is you can avoid any nasty surprises in your bill as you’ll know how much the maximum amount can be.
If you want to make sure your bill is never more than your monthly tariff, you can set up what Tesco calls a zero bill cap.
But if you choose this option, you won’t be able to:
- send picture messages
- call or text premium-rate numbers
- make international calls or dial 05 numbers
- and you won’t be able to do anything else that’s chargeable either - using extra minutes or data for example
Tesco contract phone deals
Tesco offers a great range of handset deals including the latest iPhone and Samsung ranges.
Most phone contracts are for 24 or 36 months, but there are 12, 18 and 30-month options too. And if you choose an ‘Anytime Upgrade Flex' plan, you’ll be able to upgrade or downgrade your usage tariff once a month, after your phone has been paid off.
If you know you won’t be using your full allowance for that month, simply downgrade to a cheaper tariff.
You can also upgrade your handset early.
Tesco SIM only deals
Choose between pay monthly, pay-as-you-go or for compatible phones, 5G SIM only deals.
For extra convenience, Tesco also offers ‘no-contract’ SIM deals known as Rocket Packs. These let you buy a bundle of data, minutes and texts together for a month without any contract.

Tesco runs off the O2 network, so 4G coverage is very good – around 99% of the population can be catered for. It also takes advantage of O2’s 5G network, currently live in areas within 75 towns and cities, with more places scheduled to be added in the near future.
Although the majority of the country can get good coverage at decent speeds, there are still a few blind spots in some rural and coastal areas. If you’re looking for a Tesco deal, check that your area’s covered before you buy.

If you have a Tesco Clubcard, you can get double the value of your Clubcard vouchers when you spend them at Tesco Mobile. Just convert your Clubcard vouchers into Tesco Mobile partner vouchers in the Clubcard app or on the Clubcard website.
Tesco also offers discounts and rewards through its ‘Family Perks’ scheme. Simply add one or more contracts to your account, and each of you will be able to pick monthly rewards like more data or minutes, money off your bill or extra Clubcard points.

In 2019/20, it had the highest customer satisfaction levels at 97% compared with the industry average of 93%.
