  • Personal accident cover A pay-out of up to £5,000 if you or your partner die, or lose your eyesight or a limb, because of a car accident.

  • Driving abroad You’ll get the same cover as you do in the UK for up to 90 days when driving in the EU.

  • Personal belongings cover Comprehensive policies include up to £300 per claim for personal items lost, stolen or damaged while in your car. This excludes possessions such as money, credit and debit cards, phones, laptops and other electronic equipment.

  • Windscreen cover To repair the damage to or replace broken windscreens and windows, and to fix any scratches on the bodywork caused by the broken glass.

  • Medical expenses A payment of up to £500 for each injured person in an accident to help cover associated medical costs.

  • Uninsured driver promise This means you won’t lose your no claims discount or pay any excess if your car is hit by an uninsured driver in an accident that wasn’t your fault.

Can I cancel a policy with Hastings Direct?

You have the right to cancel your car insurance with Hastings Direct within the 14-day cooling-off period without paying any penalty (although you’ll still need to pay for any days that you were covered by the policy). To cancel your policy, call 0333 321 9801 to speak to an advisor.

After the cooling-off period, you’ll still be able to cancel but you’ll need to pay a cancellation fee. If you haven’t made a claim on the policy, you should receive a refund for any days remaining on the policy.

Yes, Hastings Direct offers a telematics insurance policy called YouDrive that’s open to drivers of all ages.

Under the telematics policy, data about your driving is recorded using a smartphone app and a wireless tab. You’ll be able to see how safely you’re driving in the app and if you can prove you’re a good driver, you’ll get lower prices when it comes to renewal time.
