What’s on Sky Sports?

Sky Sports’ 11 channels are available in both SD and HD, and its Main Event channel airs major live sporting events. There are two channels dedicated to the UK’s favourite sport - football. The Premier League channel shows top-flight games and the Football channel focuses on English Football League (EFL) matches. Also, there are channels dedicated to cricket, golf, F1 and horse racing, and three more – Action, Arena and Mix – showing a range of other sports to cover all bases. Plus, there’s the popular rolling news coverage on Sky Sports News.

How do I get Sky Sports?

If you’re already a Sky customer, you can add individual Sky Sports channels to your package for an additional monthly payment. Or you can pay a bit more and get the full bundle. Although it can be better value to purchase the full bundle than several separate channels, it’s worth bearing in mind you’ll have to sign an 18-month contract to get the full package deal.

If you’re a BT TV customer, you can add Sky Sports channels to your TV package and you can also choose a sports-centric bundle that includes all the Sky and BT Sports channels. BT TV has also teamed up with NOW TV to offer flexible TV packages that allow customers to switch between different packages on a monthly basis.

If you’re a Virgin TV customer, you’ll typically get a couple of Sky Sports channels included as part of your TV package, and you can add more channels for a monthly fee. If you’re really into your sport you could look at Virgin’s Bigger Bundle + Sports package, which includes Sky Sports and BT Sport 4K.

If you’re a TalkTalk customer, you don’t get any Sky Sports channels included as standard, but you can add most of the channels as extras.

If you subscribe to NOW TV you can take advantage of its flexible options, with monthly and even daily Sky Sports passes available.

How much is Sky Sports?

The cost of Sky Sports depends on a few factors, including:

  • your current TV provider
  • whether you want the full Sky Sports package or a limited selection
  • if you want to watch in SD or HD

Sky Sports usually comes as part of a TV bundle, or as an added extra for a monthly fee, so it’s hard to give a standalone price. Even as a Sky customer you can expect to pay more than £20 a month to add the full Sky Sports bundle to your TV package. And a Sky Sports day pass (one-day pass) for all devices from NOW TV currently costs around half that.

If sport is your main viewing pleasure, you might be better off shopping around for deals on TV sports bundles. And you may find you can save money by combining your TV, broadband and even your phone in one package. But don’t forget to factor in any activation fees if you’re thinking of switching providers.

What’s the cheapest way to watch Sky Sports?

It’s difficult to compare the cost of Sky Sports as a standalone purchase because the overall cost depends on what you pay for your TV and broadband.

The cheapest way to watch Sky Sports is probably to subscribe to the Sky Sports mobile app. The downside here is that you’ll only be able to watch from your smartphone or tablet.

Similarly, if you only want Sky Sports to watch a particular sporting event – and you don’t want to be tied in – you could consider a daily pass from NOW TV.
