Compare Hyundai i20 car insurance

Who are Hyundai?

This Seoul-based car manufacturer was founded back in 1947 as a construction firm. If you include all the firm’s different subsidiaries – Hyundai has its hands in everything from department stores to heavy industries – then it’s the biggest company in South Korea.

Hyundai cars do particularly well in the US, where models like the Genesis and the Elantra have picked up the title of North American Car of the Year. The i20’s nearest rivals are the Skoda Fabia and VW Polo, but unlike those cars, this one comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty.

Despite being classed as a supermini, the i20 comes with a stack of space – you can comfortably fit three people in the back without a squish. The boot is generous, too, allowing you a whopping 326 litres of luggage space (the VW Polo only gives you 280).

The high roof and wide-opening doors make the i20 practical for family life, as you won’t end up struggling with car seats. Add on two decent-sized cup holders and a glovebox that chills to keep your food cool (on the SE model and above), and you’ve got yourself one practical car.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Hyundai i20 cost to insure?

When they calculate your premium, insurance providers take into account lots of factors, such as your age, driving experience and where you live. They’ll also consider things like your annual mileage and what you do for a living.

Insurance providers will also consider what insurance group the car belongs to. Every car belongs to one of 50 insurance groups, which are numbered 1-50. As a rule, the lower the insurance group number, the lower your car insurance will be.

Can I cut the cost of my Hyundai i20 insurance?

There are a few ways you can potentially reduce the cost of your i20 insurance. The first is to make the most of your no claims discount

If you’re a young driver and haven’t had chance to build up a no claims discount, you may find it’s worth getting a telematics policy. You could also add a more experienced driver to your policy – just make sure you’re not guilty of fronting.

You might also lower your car insurance by choosing to pay a higher voluntary excess.
