Who are Saab?
Saab is a Swedish car manufacturer. Although the company has been in operation since 1945, they were originally an aircraft manufacturer, and only revealed their first vehicle in 1947.
Sadly, the car manufacturer filed for bankruptcy in 2011 so if you don’t remember their cars, think of them as Volvo’s but slightly more fun and outgoing. You can still buy them second hand, many of which are in prime condition.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a Saab cost to insure?
The amount you’ll pay will depend heavily on which insurance group your Saab has been categorised into. The higher the number of the group, the more you can expect to pay.
Also keep in mind that Saab no longer have vast production lines, although they do still manufacture cars – albeit electric ones. This means that parts might not be that easy to come by and it could mean that you pay more for them. As insurance providers take parts and repair costs into consideration when calculating premiums, this could be reflected in the cost of your cover.
Generally speaking, Saab cars fall between groups 21 and 44.
Can I cut the cost of my Saab car insurance?
While there’s no guarantee that you may be able to wrangle a bit of a discount, there are steps to take if you’re keen to try your luck. For example, where you park your car overnight usually has an effect on your premium. A locked garage could be better than the street.
- Adding extra security features to your car, like a GPS tracker or an alarm, could also go a long way towards saving you some cash. Oh, and if you want to ensure a cheaper premium, there’s always the opportunity to remove any unwanted add-ons from your policy.
- Reducing your annual mileage could also have a pleasant effect on your premium.
- Paying your car insurance premium in one go is also usually the cheaper route, as many insurance providers will charge interest if you opt to pay it off in monthly instalments.
