What is BT TV?
BT TV is a subscription service where you pay for TV channels, including premium sports and entertainment. It’s best known for its BT Sports channels, which let you watch live Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup football, as well as rugby union, MotoGP, cricket, boxing and hockey. It extended its service in February 2020 to include Sky channels and more.
How does BT TV work?
BT TV has five flexible packages to choose from. By partnering with Sky’s streaming service NOW TV, it’s been able to give customers access to many more channels than before. So you can now watch BT Sport channels alongside Sky’s entertainment, film and Sky sports channels through NOW TV passes.
BT TV packages are available with BT broadband on a 24-month contract, but you can customise your bundle every month. For instance, you could pay to add BT Sport and Sky Sports to your package while the football season is on, opt out when there aren’t any matches, then start again when the next season begins.
BT TV also lets you access streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video that you can either add or remove from your package each month. The idea is that you’re only paying for what you want to watch.
You don’t need a satellite dish to watch BT TV, but you will need a rooftop aerial, a BT TV box and a BT Hub with working broadband.
What do you get on BT TV?
Whether you’re a sports fan, film buff or want to watch anything and everything on TV, BT has a TV package to suit you.
Alongside its sports service, most TV content is accessed through NOW TV passes. Sky Sports, Sky Cinema, Sky Atlantic, Sky One and Sky Comedy are just some of the channels now offered. Every bundle also includes access to US network AMC, which is only available to UK customers via BT. It’s the studio behind hit American dramas Fear the Walking Dead, Mad Men and Breaking Bad.
The BT packages you can choose from are called Sport, Big Sport, Entertainment, Big Entertainment and VIP. Plus, you can add monthly bolt-ons. All packages can be upgraded or downgraded on a monthly basis to suit your viewing habits.
